On Saturday November 1, 2014 the American Cancer Society hosted the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk at Village on the Creeks in Rogers. Over 1100 participants raised money throughout the month of October to generate awareness and funding for breast cancer research.
Survivors and their families celebrated every birthday they have shared since their diagnosis. A pink or white balloon was placed on the “Boulevard of Birthdays” to represent this celebration that was made possible by the life-saving treatments funded through events like Making Strides.
The winners of the Real Men Wear Pink campaign, hosted by the American Cancer Society, were announced before the walk start. Candidate Patrick Cameron was recognized for raising the most funds during October, and candidate Miles Boyer was recognized for having the largest team participation. The Real Men Wear Pink campaign brought in over $20,000 in funding to Making Strides this year. In total, the event raised over $85,000 for breast cancer research grants and programs.
